A Better Region 8: Volunteer Firefighting Grant

A Better Region 8: Volunteer Firefighting Grant

(KAIT) - A national foundation just awarded the Piggott Fire Department with a $5,000 grant.

The Leary Foundation, started by actor and stand-up comedian Dennis Leary, gave the grant to pay for an alert system.

Aside from the fire, the biggest hurdle firefighters face is lack of information and communication. This system will alert the volunteer firefighters when there is a fire and give them instant access to the situation they’re responding to.

It’s designed to cut down on the amount of time it takes firefighters to get to a fire. And the more they know before they get to the scene the better.

So, congrats and great job Piggott Fire Department, and a thank you to every volunteer firefighter in Region Eight.

It takes a special person to drop what they’re doing to respond to a house fire, day or night, and risk their lives to save ours. It’s quite amazing when you stop to think about it.

Your dedication is appreciated and know that you make this a better Region Eight.
