JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A woman who is believed by police to be a suspect in 10 forgery-related cases in three states now faces similar charges in Jonesboro.
Tiann Lashay Smith of Little Rock was arrested on suspicion of second-degree forgery after an investigation by Jonesboro police.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Jonesboro police received calls Feb. 7 from two separate Fred’s locations in Jonesboro about a woman going to the store and using forged checks to buy merchandise.
An employee at the store was able to get a vehicle and license plate number that the suspect was seen leaving in. Police believe the vehicle was a rental car that was rented to Smith, the affidavit noted.
Officers said in the affidavit that Smith was on parole and her parole officer was able to identify her in security footage taken.
A $15,000 bond was set for Smith, who will appear in court March 22.
