JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -Winter is expected to make a return to Region 8 Friday with freezing rain, especially over our far northern counties.
The day will begin with isolated showers to our west and temperatures in the upper 30s.
As the day progresses, however, the temperatures will fall well below freezing, and the rain will turn icy, especially in our northern counties.
Between 3 and 6 p.m. people living from Maynard to Campbell could see ice beginning to accumulate on trees and power lines, according to Meteorologist Bryan McCormick.
As evening falls, bridges and overpasses, as well as roads, could turn icy between 6 and 9 p.m.
In Jonesboro, temperatures should stay at or above freezing through 10 o’clock.
The frozen precipitation should taper off by midnight, with Jonesboro getting a light glaze.
Bryan, Chief Meteorologist Ryan Vaughan, and Meteorologist Zach Holder will be watching the weather and provide live updates online and on-air.
