Nacogdoches, Texas (2/16/19) – The Arkansas State baseball team belted four home runs in an 11-2 victory over Stephen F. Austin Saturday afternoon.
The Red wolves improved to 1-1 on the season, while the Lumberjack’s fell to 1-1.
A-State broke the game open with a three-run third inning that pushed the lead to 4-0. Jaylon Deshazier drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, and Jacob Jablonski followed with a two-run single to left. The Red Wolves plated three more runs in the fourth inning on a Deshazier RBI single, a Sky-Lar Culver sacrifice fly and a Justin Felix RBI double.
Deshazier finished the afternoon 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Jablonski also added a hit and an RBI.
Howard added a solo home run in the sixth inning, while Leggo followed with a solo shot of his own in the eighth and Davis rounded out the scoring with a solo home run in the night.
Duncan, Kyle Macdonald and Felix had two hits apiece as the team earned 11 hits. Nine different Red Wolves drove in runs on the day in route to the win.
The Red Wolves return to action Sunday in game-three of the weekend series against Stephen F. Austin. The first pitch is set for 1 p.m. from Jaycees Field in Nacogdoches, Texas.
