JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Help Wanted: Volunteers to cuddle babies in the NICU.

St. Bernards Medical Center announced this week it will launch a NICU Cuddlers Program.

Volunteers will hold and comfort the newborn while the parents get some much needed rest or run errands.

Qualified applicants must be able to gently hold the baby, sing lullabies, or read to them, according to a social media post by the St. Bernards Development Foundation.

Cuddlers will also complete “extensive training” led by a registered nurse. The training will include infection control, proper hand washing, privacy, baby development, and proper cuddling techniques.

Volunteers must also complete a background check and have up-to-date immunizations.

Those interested in volunteering should contact Dana Housley at 870-207-2502.
