ST. FRANCIS COUNTY, AR (WMC) - Arkansas state troopers worked three crashes Friday morning on westbound I-40 in St. Francis County, two of which were deadly.
The first two crashes happened near mile markers 259 and 260 just before 9 a.m. At least two commercial carrier trucks were involved.
One person has died as a result of the first crash, according to the St. Francis County Sheriff’s Office. Recovery crews are still working in the area.
ASP troopers responded to a third crash around 11:30 a.m. at mile marker 256 where at least three vehicles were involved. Two people died in that crash.
FedEx confirms one of their trucks was involved in Friday’s crashes. The company released a statement saying, “Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and friends of those involved in today’s tragic accident. We are cooperating fully with authorities investigating the accident.”
