JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The second annual NEA Baptist National Healthcare Decisions Day advised patients about advanced healthcare planning.
Specialists spoke on April 16 about living wills and planning for the future.
Behavioral Health Specialist Jennifer Maley said talking about these plans now can help loved ones know what actions to take when you cannot make them for yourself.
“It’s really important to be proactive and to be thinking about those things before you’re in a crisis,” Maley said. “Our goal is to improve our patient care and to improve our patients’ quality of life by getting them to start considering what their wishes might be.”
Maley said the goal of the booth is to prevent worry.
“One of the things it helps with is to take away some of the stigma and some of the fear,” Maley said. “People are usually not very comfortable thinking about those things.”
