JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The plans for Jonesboro’s Veterans Village were on display at a symposium dedicated to affordable housing for rural veterans.
The residents from 20 different states were represented April 18 on the A-State campus, all working to address the needs around housing, homelessness and aging solutions for rural veterans.
Director of the Beck Pride Center Lynda Nash said Jonesboro’s Veterans Village is one way Region 8 is working toward helping local veterans in need.
“This will be transitional housing that’s going for low-income or homeless veterans and so to help move them into a more permanent setting,” said Nash.
Nash said they hope to start construction this summer, and have an estimated completion set in October.
If you’re interested in learning more about how to help our veterans, the symposium will continue until 3 p.m. Friday, April 19 in the third floor meeting rooms area of the Carl R. Reng Student Union.
