A sergeant with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office came across a donkey in the middle of Interstate 90 near Arlington Heights Rd. Wednesday, April 17.

The sergeant, audibly concerned for the animal, can be heard trying to tell the dispatcher that there was indeed a donkey on the interstate.

“There’s a donkey in the middle of I-90," said the Cook County sergeant to the dispatcher as she tried motioned to the donkey to mover her way. “Come here! Come here, sweetie.”

The sergeant even enlisted the help of a driver to position their car so she could “figure what I’m gonna do with it.”

Shortly after the wild traffic stop, the donkey, named Dusty, was returned to his owner.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office had a little fun with the incident.

They posted the body camera video and a picture of the donkey adventure on Facebook stating “Shrek was nowhere to be found...but we did find Donkey yesterday in the middle of I-90, near Arlington Heights Road.”
