JPD hosts open house event for community

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Jonesboro Police Department hosted an open house Monday to answer residents’ questions and give them a chance to meet the JPD officers and the K9s.

The event also included ribbon cutting and celebration of the department’s new website.

The new website is designed to be easier to navigate and showcase what the department does on a daily basis.

Police Chief Rick Elliott said the site will be better for the community.

“A lot of people don’t realize what goes on at a police department, so the website is one way to kind of see the inner workings,” Elliott said. “We just encourage the public, if you want to know what’s going on in your police department immediately, go to our Facebook page to keep you posted as things happen.”

The department gave the community a behind the scenes look into the department’s different programs.
