JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Jonesboro man appeared before a judge on Tuesday on drug charges.
According to a probable cause affidavit, a sheriff’s deputy responded to a call Monday morning about a man with a gun in the Willett Road area.
The deputy located the vehicle matching the description given to him and there he found a man, later identified as Brandon Smith, standing near the vehicle’s passenger door.
Court document state when the deputy pulled up, Smith appeared to be kicking something under the vehicle.
“Smith advised he was in possession of a BB gun and it was in his waistband,” the affidavit stated.
The gun was retrieved.
Jonesboro police officers then arrived on the scene and spoke with Smith.
The deputy said he search the area and found a bag containing 1.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine next to the vehicle.
A judge found probable cause to charge Smith with possession of meth or cocaine less than 2 grams and driving on a suspended drivers license.
His bond was set at $35,000.
