A Better Region 8: Being there for others

A Better Region 8: Being there for others

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - We should all set the best example for our family, friends, and most importantly, our next generation.

I'd like to take a moment to say thank you to one of our employees who recently showed us how to be there for others.

A few weeks ago, reporter Adam Jones surprised high school student Savannah Wilkins when he asked if he could take her to her school's prom.

She said yes.

They danced, took pictures, and had a great time.

It was Adam's idea to ask her to prom.

He met Savannah last fall when he went to her school on a news assignment.

She is taking some special needs classes at Valley View.

That's where you'll also find Mrs. Kelly Green. She has been instrumental in making sure special needs students leave high school prepared for the world.

Kelly does such a great job that she was recognized as our Teacher of the Year a few years ago.

On prom night, community members presented her with $700 to pay for classroom supplies.

Both Adam and Mrs. Green set the example for how the rest of us should treat others.

Thank you both for making this a Better Region 8.
