PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) -City leaders came together for a special ceremony to announce that they are storm ready.

This means the community has taken the proper steps to give citizens information on severe weather.

It's an achievement recognized by the National Weather Service.

Emergency Management Coordinator Erik Wright has been working for this since he took office in Greene County.

“Having storm ready recognition from the National Weather Service, a federal agency," Wright said. "This will show the residents of Greene County that leaders are working towards a safe environment live in.”

National Weather Service Meteorologist Gary Woodall presented the certificate.

Paragould Mayor Mike Gaskill was in attendance, as well as County Judge Rusty McMillon.

Wright said Tuesday’s achievement was the result of teamwork between city leaders to bring the best technology available to the citizens of Greene County.
