Ag for Autism held at A-state

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The 8th annual AgBash fundraiser took place Thursday in the Arkansas State University Centennial Hall even though inclement weather forced some to miss the event.

AgBash is the primary fundraising event for Ag for Autism, a local non-profit that provides grants to those affected by autism.

This year’s event included dinner, an online auction and raffles - and a performance from local group “The Band TRIPPP."

According to their website, Ag For Autism has raised over $500,000 for individuals and organizations. Autism affects 1-in-65 children.

Danny Graham is the president of Ag For Autism. He said the community backing has been incredible.

“It's amazing to see how the community has gotten behind us because there are so many children affected by autism,” he said. “So many of these businesses have employees with children with autism and they want to help. And once they find out about us, it just has continued to grow every year.”

Graham said Ag For Autism was founded after members of the agricultural community recognized a need for Ag funding for local school districts and those who work with autistic children.

Individuals and organizations can apply for grants through the Ag for Autism website.

After a screening process, recipients are selected to help the most children possible.

Graham said they look forward to throwing AgBash every year.

He said the best part of awarding the grant money is to see just how impactful it is to the community.

All auction and raffle prizes were donated by community businesses.
