Cheering all the way to Disney

Local cheerleaders competing at Disney World

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - All Star Cheer in Jonesboro has been cheering since December of last year in competitions and their hard work is now paying off.

In February, the team won first place in Southaven. The team then secured their spot in the D2 Summit Competition at Disney World.

The team leaves this week to compete Friday, May 10.

This isn’t the first time All Star Cheer has been at the Summit. They have gone three consecutive years in a row and competed in the competition.

Cheer mom Sara Holmes said the girls have worked hard to get into the competition.

“The girls have practiced every single day since last Sunday, two to three hours a day,” Holmes said.

Holmes not only hopes for a win on Friday, but she appreciates what her daughter has already taken away from the gym.

“It teaches her a lot of respect for others,” Holmes said. “They worked so hard during practice from conditioning and practicing, trusting each other.”

Not only do the girls rely on each other for their lifts, but they have a bond off the gym floor.

“They truly are a sisterhood by the time they’ve practiced and competed for a year,” Holmes said.

Even though Region 8 can’t go to support the girls at the Summit, you can still watch the competition.

Friday’s competition starts at 9:32 a.m. and you can watch it by clicking this link.
