JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The search for a Blytheville man in connection with a robbery earlier this week at a Jonesboro gas station is over with his arrest, according to Jonesboro police.
According to a post on the Jonesboro Police Department Facebook page, Andrew Williams of Blytheville was arrested around 3:15 p.m. Friday afternoon by the United States Marshals East Arkansas Fugitive Task Force and the Jonesboro Police Department Street Crimes Unit.
Jonesboro police had identified a man suspected of robbing a gas station Sunday morning at gunpoint.
Officers were searching for Williams for several days.
Williams is suspected of robbing the store at gunpoint around 11:20 a.m. Sunday.
A bench warrant had been issued for his arrest, according to a Friday news release.
“Witnesses stated that a black male, wearing a white T-shirt and grey jacket, robbed the store with a handgun and took an undetermined amount of money," according to a post. "The suspect then fled on foot in an unknown direction.”
A Jonesboro Police Department’s incident report stated that the manager of TJ Maxx saw a suspicious vehicle parked near the Exxon before the alleged robbery.
The car, the manager said, was a gold passenger car that was occupied by a black man wearing a “do rag.”
Williams was taken to the Craighead County jail, where he was being held awaiting a probable cause hearing next week, police said.
