JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Concordia Christian Academy announced that it will remain open for another year after financial uncertainty.

Principal Nancy Shewmaker has spent the last 19 years teaching and guiding students at the private school in Jonesboro.

Recently, the school was on the brink of closure, but the faith of the community and staff made sure that would not happen.

"You know things go in cycles and we had some unfortunate things occur with some staff members so this year is our stable year and we are looking to rebuild for next year, said Shewmaker.

Monday night the school board came together to vote and reassure the staff, students, and parents that they will be open for the 2019/2020 school year.

The Christian Academy currently has 18 students attending the school from Kindergarten to 7th grade.

If you would like to enroll your child for next year, you can contact them at 870-935-2273 or go to their website at
