For the first time as a member of the Sun Belt Conference, Arkansas State played host to the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships with day one ending under the lights with the 10,000 meter run.

The A-State women totaled 18 points and are third in the standings entering day two behind leader South Alabama (44) and Louisiana (26.5). The men gathered five points and are in eighth in the standings. Coastal Carolina leads the men’s standings with 21 points.

Grace Flowers had the lone podium finish for the Red Wolves on day one, taking bronze in the hammer throw with a measurement of 55.68m (182-8). A-State added fourth place finishes by Camryn Newton-Smith in women’s javelin throw (45.09m/147-11), Eron Carter in men’s hammer throw (55.02m/180-6), and Madison Grimm in the women’s 10,000-meter run (37:35.11).

A combined six events had preliminaries on the track with the Red Wolves earning a combined 10 spots in finals of those men’s and women’s events on Sunday. The women’s 200-meter dash was the highlight of the evening for A-State with three runners winning their heat. Caitland Smith had the top qualifying time at 23.32 seconds with Osereme Erewele qualifying fourth (24.29) and Jonae Cook (24.54) fifth, respectively.

Three A-State men advanced in the men’s 1,500-meter run. Heinrich Herbst was second at 3:57.97, Bennett Pascoe third at 3:57.80 and Seth Waters fifth at 3:58.21. Also qualifying for finals were; Jermie Walker in the 100-meter dash (6th – 21.37), Daidren Davis in the 400-meter hurdles (5th – 53.78), Pauline Meyer in the 1,500-meter run (6th – 4:39.20), Anaelle Charles in the 1,500-meter run (8th – 4:39.23) and Gracee Damron in 400-meter hurdles (4th – 1:01.77).

Adult all-session tickets are $25 while youth (ages 3-12) all-session tickets are $15. Adult single day tickets are $15 with youth (ages 3-12) single day tickets $8. Students with a valid Sun Belt Conference school ID and children under age of three will receive free admission. A ticket is required for re-entry. Tickets may be purchased by calling 870-972-2781, visiting the central box office at the lower red entrance of First National Bank Arena or online via tickets.astate.edu.

Fans attending the championships are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance. Tickets will be scanned or purchased on Red Wolf Trail, underneath Marion Berry Parkway, with general parking available east of the facility toward the intramural and rugby fields. Overflow parking will be available at lot NW-1D, off Marion Berry Parkway and Aggie Road.

Live streaming of the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships will be available on ESPN+ each day. The broadcast begins at 4:30 p.m. (CT) on Saturday and 4:00 p.m. (CT) on Sunday. Live results will be available via DeltaTiming.com. Full event-by-event schedule is below.
