JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) -A campus officer stops a criminal in their tracks.
According to a probable cause affidavit, on May 13 an Arkansas State University Police officer went to the Pack Place Apartments on the 800-block of University Loop East.
The Arkansas State University Police Department received a call about a man who had jumped the railing on a balcony at building 2.
Court documents said the officer found the suspect, 29-year-old Michael Preston Blount of Brookland, on the enclosed first floor balcony of an apartment on the northwest corner of the building.
When contacting the suspect, Blount told the officer he lived in the building and was waiting on people he knew.
The report further stated the officer felt Blount was under the influence and behaved nervously.
A set of digital scales, commonly used for weighing and distributing narcotics, was found in Blount’s back pocket with a substance on it.
The affidavit said after reviewing surveillance video, Blount was seen trying to get in at least five vehicles and two apartments.
Blount was taken into custody and the scale tested positive for methamphetamine and opiates.
He appeared in court before Judge Tommy Fowler on May 14.
Blount is facing felony charges for possession of drug paraphernalia; two felony counts of residential burglary and five misdemeanor counts of breaking or entering.
His bond was set at $15,000 and his next court date will be on June 28 at the Craighead County Courthouse.
