HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KAIT/KARK)- Two medical marijuana dispensaries opened in Hot Springs over the weekend and the marijuana is flying off the shelves.
According to a report from NBC affiliate KARK, residents from all corners of the state flocked to Green Springs Medical and Doctor’s Orders RX to buy medical marijuana legally.
Doctor’s Orders RX opened Friday, May 10 and since that time, the store has already made 886 transactions and sold over ten pounds.
Meanwhile, Green Springs Medical opened Sunday, May 12 and has sold nearly three pounds.
Kelli Helms drove from Fayetteville to treat her neuropathy, a side effect of being cancer free.
“They were able to get most of it by surgery but the chemotherapy that I had damaged all my nerves,” Helms said.
She was able to purchase half an ounce for $220, with about $30 going to the state in taxes.
The price is very high now. I think it’ll balance out as more of the cultivators come on board," Baron Crane, Arkansas medical marijuana patient, said.
