JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - It’s a different kind of 2 for 1 for Arkansas State basketball. Mike Balado had 2 scholarships left for the 2019 class and filled them in just 1 day.

Lony Francis committed to the Red Wolves Monday night. He was an Honorable Mention to the 2019 NJCAA All-American team. The forward averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds as Vincennes, Indiana won 34 games and the NJCAA National Championship.

Jerry Johnson Jr. comes to A-State as a graduate transfer. The Memphis native averaged 10 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists for Chattanooga this past season. He dropped 26 in February in a Mocs loss to Samford.

Lony and Jerry will be eligible this coming season for A-State.

Matt Daniel got a pair of JUCO commitments for A-State women’s basketball

Three Rivers guard Hailee Erickson earned All-American honors last month. She’s 3rd in program history in career 3 pointers. Erickson led the Lady Raiders in scoring this season as they made their first NJCAA tournament appearance in 15 years.

Johnna Jones comes to A-State from Jackson State Community College in Tennessee. She averaged 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists this past season.
