PARAGOULD, Ark. (KAIT) - Paragould city leaders have hope for the future after witnessing potential business expansion.
On May 13, the city council approved rezoning several homes as commercial properties.
This gives new businesses the opportunity to buy property from the city and start new.
Director of Economic Development Susan McGowan said rezoning helps the city.
“When you give availability to entities that are looking to move to your community," McGowan said. "Then that makes it easier for them to move, make a decision and make an investment in your community.”
The citizens also benefit when new businesses move to Paragould.
“We see an increase in revenue from new businesses to be really invested in our community,” McGowan said. “We see them meeting the needs of our citizens as they have discretionary funds to spend. It helps the overall community.”
McGowan said several highway projects and improvements made to technology have helped spark the interest in potential new businesses.
She also said all the improvements made now and in the future will make the city more attractive for people to relocate to Paragould and invest.
