Trailing 5-0 in the bottom of the eighth, the Arkansas State baseball team rallied for six runs in the final two frames for a 6-5 win over #15 Ole Miss, Tuesday night at Tomlinson Stadium.
Following the win, the Red Wolves improved to 26-26 overall while Ole Miss fell to 32-21.
Zachary Patterson pitched five innings, where he allowed four runs on five hits while walking five and striking out one. Noah Stone (2-1) earned the win out of the bullpen, pitching four innings allowing one run on three hits while punching out five.
The home team entered the bottom of the eighth trailing 5-0, but pulled within 5-2, when Justin Felix sent a two-run blast to left scoring Kyle MacDonald. Jablonski started the ninth with a leadoff walk and scored on an RBI single by Eli Davis. Drew Tipton walked to put two on with one out and Sky-Lar Culver singled through the right side to bring the Red Wolves within one, 5-4.
MacDonald narrowly missed a walk off home run but came back with an 0-2 single up the middle to score Tipton. An error in center field allowed Culver to score the winning run to give A-State the 6-5 victory.
Felix finished the night three-for-four with two RBIs, a home run and a run while MacDonald finished three-for-five with an RBI and a run.
Ole Miss jumped out to a to a 3-0 advantage in the fourth, when Kevin Graham launched a three-run home run to right. Tyler Keenan extended the Rebels lead 4-0 when homered to right. Ryan Olenek chipped in big for the Rebels, finishing the night three-for-four with a run.
Arkansas State will return to action when it hosts Little Rock in a three-game weekend series. The first pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, 1 p.m. on Saturday and the series will continue Saturday at 1 p.m.
