REGINA, Saskatchewan (KAIT) - A former Red Wolf put pen to paper on his first professional contract.
Justin McInnis signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders Wednesday evening. The Arkansas State wide receiver was the 6th overall pick in the 2019 CFL Draft. McInnis had rookie tryouts earlier this month with the Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans.
McInnis had 61 catches for 748 yards and 5 touchdowns in the 2018 season. He also returned a blocked punt for a score against Texas State. McInnis earned a spot on the 2018 All-Sun Belt 2nd Team.
Roughriders GM Jeremy O’Day told TSN earlier this month that Justin “was the top player on our board. Early on the in process of watching all the players, it became pretty clear that he was a guy we wanted to become a Roughrider.”
Justin will take the field Thursday and Friday for Rookie Camp, Training Camp opens on Sunday. He will be the 4th Arkansas State alum on a CFL roster.
