CROSS COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - Nearly two weeks after he moved to Cross County, a Level 4 sex offender finds himself back behind bars.
Wynne police officers arrested 52-year-old James Gracey on an arrest warrant Wednesday for failing to comply with reporting requirements.
He’s being held in the Cross County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
On May 2, the sheriff’s office alerted the public that Gracey had moved to the county. They listed his status at that time as “homeless.”
The sheriff said Gracey would live mainly in the West Union area, and travel on a bicycle.
He was forbidden from living within 2,000 feet of a church, school, or daycare.
According to online court records, Gracey was convicted of rape in 1992 in Pulaski County.
He was assessed as a Level 4 sex offender which, according to the Arkansas Crime Information Center, means he is “likely to engage in predatory sex offenses.”
