JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Police responded to a call about a man with a knife early Tuesday morning in South Jonesboro.
Jonesboro Police Public Information Specialist Sally Smith confirmed they responded to The Links after 12:30 a.m. and found an intoxicated man, later identified as Voyee Smith, holding a knife outside of his apartment.
A police officer told Smith to put the knife down, but he started to cut himself.
Police say he had wounds to his torso, neck and face.
Officers then tased Smith twice but it didn’t work.
He only dropped the knife after he cut himself deep on his face.
Officers treated him at the scene and then took him to St. Bernards hospital for treatment.
Sally Smith didn’t have any update on his condition or the name of the individual.
