Red Wolves Raw: Brian Dooley on Arkansas State soccer camp, 2019 outlook

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Camp season is in full swing at Arkansas State.

The women’s soccer camp finished up Friday morning. Brian Dooley and some of his Red Wolves players were teaching kids from all ages in the four day event. The Scarlet and black are fresh off back to back winning seasons.

Coach reflected on camp this week and the state of the program.

“I think it fills a void a little bit because of all the travel seasons and the rec seasons are done by now. And it gets an opportunity for the kids to come and play here on our facilities and get an idea of our program and helps promote our program as well. The idea is also to expose our players and the kids in the are to learn the game from those that play it. In the long history of the program, my staff, we’ve been here four seasons, but there’s only been one postseason win in all of the years that they’ve had women’s soccer here. We were on the cusp these last two years before losing the penalty kicks. So I think this year we come in with maybe a little hardened attitude about things and then I think we can make that progress neccessary to advance.”
