JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) -A Jonesboro man faces an aggravated assault charge after police say he choked a woman earlier this week.

Officers headed to the 3600 block of Medallion Circle on Thursday after getting a call about a domestic disturbance.

According to a probable cause affidavit, a woman at the residence told officers 36-year-old Jesse Pepion had taken everyone’s cell phones and then choked her to the point she couldn’t breathe. She also told officers Pepion had disconnected their WiFi so no one could call police.

The report further stated the victim had friction marks around her neck and a small amount of blood pooled under the layer of skin on her neck.

The court documents said Pepion admitted he had taken the cell phones and disconnected the WiFi, but it was to remove pictures off the phone.

Pepion told officers the alleged victim and a 10-year-old witness attacked him.

The affidavit noted an additional witness, who was nine years old, told the officer they had seen the victim chasing Pepion to try and get her phone back.

Pepion was taken into custody without incident.

He appeared in Craighead County District Court June 13 before Judge David Boling.

Pepion was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault on a family or household member and interference with emergency communication in the first degree.

He was issued a no-contact order between himself and the alleged victim.

His bond was set at $3,500 and his next court date is July 31.
