JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Hundreds filled Central Baptist Church Thursday night for John 3:16 Ministries’ catfish dinner, but what might surprise you is that it was all to promote an even bigger event.
The ministry group holds these types of dinners a couple of times a year and at absolutely no cost to those who attend.
Guests were served catfish as John 3:16 members played live music and shared their testimonies.
It was all to give back to the community and promote their upcoming Community Fest.
“What sets John 3:16 apart from another ministry is we get out and we serve," Instructor Landon Wise said. " Jesus taught us, He came to Earth to serve others, so that’s what we do, we get out and work in the community.”
While around 700 came out Thursday night, Wise said they’re expecting an even bigger crowd of about 10,000 for their Community Fest.
It’s their biggest fundraiser of the year, and there’s something for the whole family, from bounce houses for the kids to a live performance by David Crowder.
It will be at the First National Bank Arena on Aug. 24.
