Arkansas State indoors for Monday practice, Coordinator Corner
Red Wolves Raw: Keith Heckendorf & David Duggan at Arkansas State Media Day

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Fall camp continues at Arkansas State. Blake Anderson’s crew were in shoulder pads for over 2 hours. Monday marked Day 4 of camp.

I asked offensive coordinator Keith Heckendorf & defensive coordinator/assistant head coach David Duggan what they want to accomplish the first week of fall camp.

Keith Heckendorf

“Well we really want to set the tone for who we’re going to be. What’s this team’s identity going to be? Really the things I’m looking for is we want a group that’s going to play fast. Play fast, align fast, think fast, react fast. Play fast in everything we do, and then we’re going to challenge them to be physical. We want to create a physical mindset in who we are.”

David Duggan

There’s an old saying in the NFL: You don’t get bigger, you don’t get faster, you don’t get stronger, you get smarter. And that’s what we’ve been preaching to our players. And through the process of not only is practice important, but the mental side of the game and preparation.

The first Arkansas State scrimmage is set for Saturday morning at 9:45am.
