Agreement reached in Hunter Biden child custody case

BATESVILLE, Ark. (KAIT) - A circuit judge this week signed off on an agreement involving a child custody case involving Hunter Biden and an Independence County woman.

According to records on Arkansas Court Connect, the agreement was signed March 12 by Circuit Judge Holly Meyer.

The three-page order noted that while all previously sealed documents filed or disclosed in the case as confidential would remain confidential, certain information was not redacted in the order.

The child’s mother, Lunden Alexis Roberts, will maintain health insurance for the child while Biden, the son of former Vice President Joe Biden, will reimburse Roberts for the cost of the health insurance.

Hunter Biden was also ordered to pay monthly child support, as well as attorney’s fees and costs in the case, the order noted.

Hunter Biden had also asked in March for a request not to appear for a deposition in person and a pretrial involving the case, citing his current wife’s due date and threat over the coronavirus.

In January, Meyer ordered Hunter Biden to explain why he failed to submit his financial records in a contentious paternity case or face a charge of contempt.

On Jan. 7 in Independence County, Meyer ordered Biden to “comply with all past-due discovery” and submit all of his financial records including past tax returns and a list of companies and properties he owns.

However, lawyers for Roberts stated in court documents filed Tuesday, Jan. 21, that Biden had “failed to provide any additional discovery information.”

In its motion, the Benton-based Lancaster & Lancaster Law Firm stated Biden’s conduct was “willful and contemptuous.”

Upon reviewing the case, Meyer ordered Biden to appear in court on Wednesday, Jan. 29, and show cause as to why he should not be held in contempt.

Biden, who is the son of former Vice President Joe Biden, is being sued for child support.

DNA tests determined with “scientific certainty” that he fathered Roberts’ baby. She and the child, who just turned one last August, live in Independence County.
