STODDARD COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - A man is facing charges in connection to a death investigation.
Joshua R. Herron, 41, of Advance, was charged with tampering with physical evidence. His bond was set at $25,000 and he remains in the Stoddard County Jail.
According to Stoddard County Sheriff Carl Hefner, they received a call on Tuesday, January 28, at 4:27 a.m. about a residential alarm at a home in the 600 block of Duckett Street in Advance.
When the officers arrived, they found a man, later identified as 61-year-old Robert L. Harwood, dead on the living room floor.
The Stoddard County Major Case Squad was activated on “suspicion of homicide.”
According to Sheriff Hefner, a male suspect was taken into custody in the Bertrand area.
On Tuesday, detectives interviewed an adult man and two juvenile suspects who were all taken into custody.
On Wednesday, the man, Joshua Herron was charged.
An autopsy was conducted on Wednesday, January 29 in Farmington, Mo. Sheriff Hefner said the official autopsy report has not been released at this time.
The investigation is ongoing and other arrests and charges may be forthcoming.
Some residents in the neighborhood call the whole thing concerning.
One woman said in the last few weeks there have been some break-ins, but it usually a quiet neighborhood.
Another neighbor said this situation worries them because they have kids and they just want more information on what happened.
The sheriff said several school lockdowns in the area were related, but he can’t say why at this time.
The Stoddard County Major Case Squad consists of members from the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Dexter, Bernie, Bloomfield, Puxico and Advance Police Departments.
