MARMADUKE, Ark. (KAIT) - When some Greene County firefighters and police officers took an oath to “protect and serve” their communities, they meant it.

Aside from their sworn duties to keep the streets safe and battle house fires, a few members of the Marmaduke Police and Fire Departments went above and beyond their calls of duty.

This past weekend, several officers volunteered their time off to help employees at Dollar General restock the shelves.

As the police department stated in their social media post: “We should be keeping an eye on our neighbors and helping each other.”

The Lafe Fire Department also helped out their local DG this past weekend.

Posting on social media, they called the folks who work at the store a “great group of people” who help them on a daily basis.

As a way of saying a “big thank you,” the firefighters helped restock the shelves of their town’s only store.

With all that is going on we wanted to give back to our community !!! The only store that we have . with a great group...
