JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - A Jonesboro church gave away bags of groceries for free Monday evening.
Cars filled up the parking lot even before 5:30 p.m. to receive free groceries on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Those cars drove up and had volunteers meet them with the groceries so those in need didn’t have to worry about social distancing.
The First NEA Church on Airport Road gave away everything they had in a two-hour span.
Pastor Patrick Lander said they felt it was their duty to help out the community the best way they knew possible.
“So this is one way we’re able to partner with some partners of ours, Convoy of Hope, and get food here and give it out to the community,” Landers said. “It’s so wonderful to see people being able to serve and to reach out. It’s a time that we can all come together and be Jonesboro strong and love and minister to each other.”
Lander said they were able to feed over 400 families Monday night.
