LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KAIT) - Gov. Asa Hutchinson and Dr. Nate Smith, secretary of the Arkansas Department of Health, updated the public Thursday on the state’s response to the coronavirus, including the latest cases of COVID-19 and deaths.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson started the COVID-19 briefing with remarks on the George Floyd memorial service.

Following those remarks, Gov. Hutchinson gave the latest numbers of COVID-19 across the state.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson noted the seven-day rolling average in Northeast Arkansas is “going in the right direction.”

Dr. Nate Smith, secretary of the Arkansas Department of Health, also gave further details on cases in Arkansas.

The governor said he was asked about when the state would move to Phase 2. He went on to say that no decisions have been made.

Hutchinson gave a response regarding seven A-State student-athletes testing positive for COVID-19.
