Free drive-thru COVID-19 testing held Saturday in Jonesboro

Free drive-thru COVID-19 testing available Saturday

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - The Craighead County Health Unit offered free drive-thru COVID-19 tests Saturday, as an event organizer said the event provided an opportunity for people to stay healthy.

The tests was administered in the unit’s parking lot, 611 E. Washington Ave. in Jonesboro, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Tests were administered to anyone wishing to be tested, with no symptom or screening criteria required.

Clinic coordinator Heather Johnson said the event was successful and showed the resiliency of area residents, noting a couple of dozen volunteers from other groups and agencies helped Saturday.

“I mean, I think, that our community wants to stay healthy. I mean we’ve already gone through a tornado and now this pandemic and it just says a lot about people wanting to come out and make sure that they are staying healthy,” Johnson said.

The first 150 people also received a free boxed lunch at the event.
