LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KAIT) - Gov. Asa Hutchinson updated the public Wednesday on the state’s response to the coronavirus, including the latest cases of COVID-19 and deaths.
Gov. Hutchinson issues an emergency declaration allocating $250,000 for preparations of Hurricane Laura.
ADEM Director A.J. Gary says, “Hurricane Laura will have an impact on Arkansas.”
Gov. Hutchinson also reported the latest COVID-19 numbers.
The state saw the 2nd highest COVID-19 deaths in 24 hours, with 21 deaths.
Dr. Jennifer Dillaha, state epidemiologist, also reported additional COVID-19 numbers.
Currently, 148,620 tests have been administered for the month.
Dr. Dillaha also spoke about the best face masks to wear.
Dr. Ivy Pfeffer, Arkansas Department of Education deputy commissioner, said there are established points of contact with every superintendent that they can call 24/7 to coordinate with the Arkansas Department of Health to answer questions when decisions need to be made.
