LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KAIT) - The state of Arkansas reported nearly 1,300 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, with nearly nine percent of new cases reported in Craighead County alone.

According to a media release from Gov. Asa Hutchinson, Arkansas had 115,812 total cases, with 10,010 total active cases in the state.

Craighead County had 112 new cases, second only to Pulaski County with 121.

Washington County was third with 95 cases, while Benton County was fourth with 87 cases. Sebastian County was fifth with 49 new cases.

As of Wednesday, state health officials said 2,026 people have died from the virus, up 23 from Tuesday’s numbers.

Officials also noted that 642 people remain hospitalized due to COVID-19, while 111 people were on ventilators.

The state has also seen nearly 25,000 PCR and antigen tests done so far this month, with about 9,300 done Tuesday.
