JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - The Arkansas Department of Health reported a record high of deaths in a single day in the state on Monday.
According to a news release from Governor Asa Hutchinson’s office, Arkansas reported 42 new deaths.
That’s the highest increase in deaths since the pandemic began.
“While there is good news on the vaccine front this morning, we have to work together to reduce cases, hospitalizations and save lives,” Gov. Hutchinson said.
The governor added that the ADH reported 1,308 new cases statewide and Craighead County ranked 5th in the state for 63 new cases.
“The new cases are higher than last Monday, and this may be an indication we are in for a tough week ahead,” he said.
