Cross County School District teams up with food pantry to serve families in-need

CROSS COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - The Cross County School District will use a $25,000 grant to help the Cherry Valley Food Pantry feed families in need.

The district is looking at having a weekly food pick up time after school hours.

They are still in the planning process, but Superintendent Nathan Morris says this will help families with food insecurity during the upcoming holiday season and years to come.

″The holiday season is the one that really opens your eyes, but that’s the real thing is that after the holiday season is over," Morris said. “The paycheck to paycheck living or living in poverty didn’t go away, and so that’s where we want to continue to be able to help our students.”

Families qualify for resources if they already receive SNAP benefits or if their child receives a free or reduced lunch.

To find out more information on the program or to see if you qualify, call the school district at 870-588-3338.
