Arkansas reports over 1,900 new COVID-19 cases; no NEA counties in Top 5

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KAIT) - The state of Arkansas saw an additional 1,905 COVID-19 cases reported Saturday as the number of hospitalizations statewide was down.

According to a tweet from the Arkansas Department of Health, the state had 143,821 total cases as of Saturday afternoon.

State health officials said that none of the counties in Northeast Arkansas were in the top 5 of counties with new cases.

Pulaski County was first in the state, with 158 cases; followed by Washington County with 147 and Benton County with 116. Sebastian County was fourth with 90, with Saline County fifth at 83.

The state also reported the number of total deaths went up 16 Saturday to 2,337.

Five of the 16 deaths were in Region 8, with one death each in Baxter, Craighead, Cross, Poinsett and Randolph counties.

Officials noted 925 people remain hospitalized due to the virus, with 154 people still on ventilators.

The state has done over 258,000 PCR and antigen tests so far this month, with nearly 17,000 done on Friday.
