Arkansas reports 1,352 new COVID-19 cases, Craighead County 4th in state in new cases

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KAIT) - The state of Arkansas reported 1,352 new COVID-19 cases as state health officials said Craighead County was in the top 5 of counties with new cases.

According to a tweet from the Arkansas Department of Health, Arkansas had 145,173 total cases as of Sunday.

The state also had 17,646 total active cases, which were down 99 from Saturday’s numbers.

Craighead County was fourth in the state in new cases, with 52, reported Sunday.

Pulaski and Washington counties were tied for first with 155, while Benton County was third with 74 and Saline County was fifth with 49 cases.

State health officials said there were 20 additional deaths reported statewide Sunday due to the virus. Of the 20 deaths, two deaths were reported in Region 8 - one each in Clay and St. Francis counties.

There was also an increase in hospitalizations, with 962 people hospitalized due to the virus. The number was up 37 from Saturday, while the number on ventilators increased by nine to 163.

State health officials said there have been over 273,000 PCR and antigen tests done so far this month, with about 13,500 done Saturday.
