Wonderland Ice Rink makes adjustments due to COVID-19

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - The rules at the Wonderland Ice Rink are a little different this year because of the pandemic.

A six-foot distance is required between each group.

Face coverings are required for all people present, except for those under the age of 10.

People may also be without a mask if they are at least 12 feet away from others.

Wonderland Rink worker Brenda Sparks says that it’s a bit of normalcy for kids to enjoy.

“They still need to have fun and be outside and be with their friends and family and stuff because you still want to have it even with the pandemic,” said Sparks. “Just wear your mask, maintain a distance, and sanitize.”

Sparks says they had about 30 people come out on Saturday for their opening day. She says that business has been a little slow compared to last year.

Kash Muncierf is learning how to skate for the first time. He says he’s glad he has something fun to do during the pandemic.

“I’m pretty excited to learn how to ice skate,” said Muncierf.

The ice skating rink is open on West Monroe Avenue in downtown Jonesboro until Jan. 5.
