LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KAIT/KATV) - Much needed financial aid may be coming to hospitals and nursing homes across the state.

Our content partner, KATV, reports The Arkansas CARES Act Steering Committee approved a $50 million request from the Department of Health.

Of the funding, $30 million would go to hospitals and $20 million would go to nursing homes.

DHS Secretary Cindy Gillespie told lawmakers the groups could spend that much money and more in December alone.

The measure has to be approved by the Arkansas Legislative Council.
