BATESVILLE, Ark. (KAIT) - On Thursday, Batesville Fire Department received the first round of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Almost all of the Batesville Fire Department’s full and part-time employees got the Moderna vaccine, thanks to Econo-Mart Pharmacy.
Chief Brent Gleghorn said the pharmacy reached out to the department before they were even cleared to give the vaccines, to make sure the first responders were on the list.
Gleghorn said that shows how the community has been working together to fight the virus.
“This community is just-they’re all about each other. It’s not about themselves,” said Gleghorn.
Gleghorn said he hopes frontline workers and first responders stepping up to get the vaccine first encourages the public to get vaccinated when it’s their turn.
The department will get the second dose around Jan. 28.
