Region 8 Sports Extra: Lyon College men's head basketball coach Chad Tapp on beginning new season

BATESVILLE, Ark. (KAIT) - The Lyon College men’s basketball team hasn’t played a game in nearly 10 months. That all is about to change Saturday when they make their season debut.

“They’re excited about being back and they’re excited about the opportunity to play. But, you know there was a stretch where we didn’t know if that was going to happen or not. And I’ve been incredibly impressed with our guys. Their attitudes, and those sorts of things, head coach Chad Tapp said.

The Scots went 18-13 a season ago. That was good enough for a 3rd place finish in the American Midwest Conference.

The team returns also 99 percent of their scoring from last year, which includes former Blytheville Chickasaw Winston Peace and Harding Academy Wildcat Grant Patterson. They also welcome in a few newcomers including former Tuckerman standout Ben Keton and Cave City’s Trenton Bell.

Lyon begins a schedule of 23 games in 50 days when they welcome in #17 Talladega College on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff is at 3:00pm, the game will be streamed online here.
