JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Chico’s will not be returning to Jonesboro.

After the March 28 tornado, we are all eagerly awaiting for more stores to reopen at Turtle Creek Mall. Unfortunately, Chico’s announced they would not be rebuilding.

Chico’s does not plan to reopen, but they say they will monitor the market for future store consideration.

Chico’s is a women’s clothing store that sat next to JCPenney.

The store took a hit from an EF-3 tornado on March 28 that destroyed the store and several stores in The Mall at Turtle Creek.

A spokesperson for the women’s clothing retailer told Region 8 News on Wednesday they have “no plans to reopen.”

The March 28 tornado demolished the store at The Mall at Turtle Creek, 3000 E. Highland.

“At this time, there are no plans to reopen,” said Kristin McClement, director of Chico’s public relations and social marketing. “However, we will continue to monitor this market for future store consideration.”

Trina Miller says this is an unfortunate time for all businesses.

“I think it’s been a hard time in the pandemic for any businesses to survive, and hopefully that will change,” said Miller.

Chico’s joins the list of stores that says they won’t be back in Jonesboro, including Barnes and Noble.

Several stores are still to be determined.

Region 8 News will continue to bring you the latest on store updates.
