AMAGON, Ark. (KAIT) - In Jackson County, high-speed internet is now an option for those in rural areas like Amagon.
Skyfi WISPERnet installed a new 120-foot tower to support wireless 5G inside the city, right on time for the new semester and new year.
The owner of the company, Roderick Robinson is from Jackson County and he says this wasn’t an easy feat. They had to go down to the capital and lobby for the infrastructure, adding smaller cities do not always get the funding or have the funding to support these construction projects.
“Rural Arkansas has been in great demand for high-speed broadband for the last 20 years. They have really suffered in some of the advances and working with some the larger companies and accessing high-speed broadband,” Robinson said. “We have been able to hook up almost 10 customers within our first week. We’re still plowing away as it is the first week of the year. We are very excited about the change in this area.”
He says children are the future and making sure they have access to their work is important, as well as the several businesses within the city.
Robinson says he plans to continue to work with several townships in Jackson County to bring them reliable internet.
