JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Another familiar face will be on Butch Jones’ Arkansas State staff.

AStateNation was first to report that Keith Heckendorf will be named the offensive coordinator. A source close to the program confirmed those details to Region 8 Sports.

Heckendorf fared well as the OC in 2019 and 2020. A-State was 10th in the nation in 2019 in passing offense. Those numbers went up in 2020. The Red Wolves are 2nd in FBS in passing touchdowns (39), 2nd in passing yards per game (364.4), 4th in passing yards (4008), 11th in total yards (5387), and 14th in total yards per game (489.7).

Keith had stops at North Carolina, Nebraska, and Western Carolina before coming to Jonesboro. He briefly served as A-State interim head coach after Blake Anderson left for Utah State.

Jones had tabbed AJ Milwee in December to be the A-State OC. Football Scoop reported that Milwee is heading to Texas to be the quarterbacks coach.
