JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - An anonymous $25,000 gift given on Friday will help the Arkansas State University Museum maintain its history.
According to a media release from the university, the donation will be used for the care, management, and conservation of museum collections plus encourage people to help support the museum in Jonesboro.
An official with the museum said the gift will help in many ways.
“This gift is as insightful as it is generous. Collections care is crucial to a museum’s existence, yet it is carried out behind the scenes without fanfare and is unnoticed by the public,” Museum Director Dr. Marti Allen said in the media release. “That the donor chose to remain anonymous is beautifully consistent with the recognition that collections care, a core function of museums, quietly enables every other function.”
The museum has more than 50,000 items and the money will be used to help with the issue.
